After growing up in a family greenhouse business, Glenn Andersen started Nordic Nurseries in 1986 in Cloverdale, BC on the bank of the Nicomekl River.  The fertile farm land was ideal for growing a large crop of field grown Winter Pansies.  Other crops included 4 inch annuals, hanging baskets and a large Fall program.  By the early 90’s, Nordic’s focus started to move towards vegetative propagation and in 1993 Nordic became the first Canadian member of the recently formed Proven Winners® group.

Proven Winners® pioneered the vegetative spring plant market and quickly grew to be an industry leader with the introduction of so many new and exciting spring plants from leading breeders around the world.  Today, Proven Winners® is the # 1 plant brand in North America and has spread to many countries around the world.  Proven Winners® focus on strong consumer advertising along with a range of grower support including comprehensive branded packaging and POP has kept Proven Winners® on the leading edge in the plant world.

By 1996 Nordic Nurseries had outgrown the Cloverdale location and moved to the present property in the rolling hills of Bradner.  Propagation was now the main focus of the business and a new 100,000 square foot state of the art greenhouse was built.  This facility allows Nordic to propagate top quality rooted cuttings as well as a finished crop of potted annuals along with hanging baskets.  Proven Winners® is the primary focus both in propagation and finished production.

Nordic currently produces 5 million rooted cuttings which are sold to growers across Canada through brokers representing Nordic.  Finished production which is sold to independent garden centers throughout BC consists of hanging baskets, basket stuffers, 4 ½ inch, 6 inch and market packs.  Some other finished programs include Fall Magic™, Fall Pansies, and various novelty crops.

Glenn and his wife Laura are active in the greenhouse industry through memberships in United Flower Growers, BCLNA, COPF, OFA, Flowers Canada as well as traveling to visit other growers and attending conferences and trade shows to stay on top of new products and production techniques.

Nordic’s on site trial garden and container trials are planted each year to highlight the best Proven Winners® varieties as well as upcoming introductions.  This allows Nordic and its customers to see first hand how the plants perform both in a garden setting and in containers.  With over 600 varieties currently in production and 50+ new varieties each year, this trialing is an essential part of Nordic’s plant evaluation program.  Nordic’s philosophy is to produce the highest quality plants possible and provide strong customer service.
